Hello All, I need some professional guidance from seniors. I have 11 years of IT experience and have played the role of a business analyst for the past 6 years. I have now taken a break for a year to look after my kid. I plan to resume looking for a job in 4 months. Before I start looking for a job, I want to do some certifications to refresh my knowledge.

Career Path Dilemma

I feel that I am experiencing a mid-life crisis in my career. I am not sure which path I should pursue. Should I take up certifications related to business analysis or venture into a completely new path? My strengths lie in my analytical ability. Are there any new opportunities in the market where I can start afresh?

Certifications for Business Analysts

If I decide to pursue a career in the business analyst role, are there any certifications I can take up? I have experience working in the HR field for major retail clients.

Please advise.

Dear NShankar1,

Current Demand for Business Analysts

Overall, my market information indicates that the job of a "Business Analyst" is currently in high demand. If you have six years of experience in this role out of a total of 11 years, you naturally possess sufficient experience. To further enhance your qualifications, consider complementing your work experience with a certification course.

Certification Opportunities

In today’s Times of India (Bangalore edition), there is an advertisement for Gems B School, which offers a certification course in business analysis. You can find more information about this course by visiting their website at www.gemsbschool.com.

Considerations for Career Transition

Furthermore, venturing into unfamiliar territory may involve some risks. While transitioning to a new role within your current company is one thing, completely abandoning your previous experience to pursue something new could potentially create a crisis that does not currently exist. Taking a career break due to family reasons is a common occurrence that many women successfully navigate, and you can too!

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
