Hi Team,

I am working for an MNC and have recently obtained an H1B Visa. My company has a 3-month notice period policy, and for early relieving, they are requesting my visa copy. Do I need to share those details with my company? I have already served 2 months' notice period to date. Please suggest urgently.

Thank you.

Does your MNC have a buyout clause for the notice period? Is your company stating that if you provide a Visa copy, they will release you before the 3-month notice period, or will they still require a buyout for the remaining one month?

Hello Kumar,

There's no harm in showing your H1-B to your company, provided there's a clear understanding that you will be relieved based on that document. Your HR may be asking for it to confirm for themselves that you aren't bluffing, since H1-Bs aren't as common nowadays as they used to be a few years back. And DON'T give your passport even for a second—just give them a Xerox copy of the H1-B visa stamped page.

All the best.

Regards, TS
