Recently, I have joined a company and received an offer letter from their side. However, they have mentioned that they will provide the appointment letter next month. If, for any reason, they terminate my job, will I still be entitled to receive my salary?

Monika Paliwal - An offer letter is fine until you join. Appointment letters are usually detailed and issued on the date of joining, so I think what you mean by 'giving appointment letter after a month' means on the date you join and complete all your formalities.

On the date of joining, ask them for your employee ID or Employee Number - this way, they won't be able to escape giving you a salary.

There are many companies these days that provide an offer letter before joining, even at a senior level. There is no need to fear that they will not induct you because their reputation and HR policy are at stake. A mailed offer letter is what normally comes. You can ask for a detailed compensation schedule before joining, which will give you an indication of their intentions. 99% of the time, a good company will not refuse to send you a compensation schedule.

After they have issued an unconditional offer and you have conveyed acceptance of the offer, the contract is complete. Whether they issue an appointment letter or not is immaterial. However, under the Shops and Establishment Act, they are obliged to issue the letter. If they terminate you, then for the period you worked, the employer is required to pay dues. If the termination is illegal, it can also be challenged.
