Dear All,

I need urgent help regarding the contract employee card. Currently, we only have employee contract cards with numbers. The issue now is that our manager is requesting a photo card for contract employees hired from third-party or partner organizations, with "contract" written on the card. In reality, I am aware that providing them with photo ID cards from our organization is illegal, as they are employees of a different company. Can anyone assist me in determining the applicable law in this situation?

Simmi

Hi Simmi,

If you have hired specific employees on contract even though they are being paid a salary by another company, you can issue a Photo ID Card for your security and administrative purposes. Ensure that the ID Card clearly states that it is valid only for your company.

However, the best option would be to request your contractor to provide Photo ID cards that meet your specifications. In the meantime, you can issue regular contractor access cards to them.

Thank you.

positive identification is a must if you check out C-TPAT. however the thing is not all contractor staff are on official payrolls, you may have a serious issue later.

Since the contract workmen are from a third party, it will create a big trouble in providing the photo ID cards. It's better to ask the contractor to provide photo-based ID cards for his laborers, which can also help us with proper identification.

Today, this issue is also becoming necessary due to global compliance, but you cannot issue cards in your company name. In our company, we have issued cards to contract employees clearly mentioning the contractor's name. If you issue an ID card in your company's name, any employee can later prove their employment with your company.

Thanks,
Sahil
