Introduction

Let me introduce myself first. My name is Abhinav, and I am a Mechanical Engineer who graduated in 2013 with 90.3%. I got a job through campus placement at an automobile company. Initially, I underwent a 6-month training program in the manufacturing plant as a Graduate Engineer Trainee. Later, I was assigned to the corporate office as an Area Manager.

Current Role and Responsibilities

In my current role, I am responsible for handling customer complaints regarding the performance of their automobiles, with a focus on ensuring customer satisfaction. I have the authority to assess whether a complaint is genuine or not, and based on my evaluation, I provide recommendations to our dealer partners for appropriate action. If a complaint is deemed genuine, I coordinate with the company to arrange for the necessary rectifications. Additionally, I collect feedback from dealers on the performance of the automobiles, which I then pass on to the company's quality control department. I review this feedback, make any required modifications, and relay the information accordingly. In summary, my job profile can be described as Techno-Commercial.

Seeking Guidance

I am reaching out for your input as I find myself at a crossroads. I am contemplating pursuing either an MBA or an MS degree. I would greatly appreciate your valuable insights on whether I should opt for an MBA and, if so, which field I should specialize in.

Your guidance is crucial to help me navigate through this decision-making process.

Best Regards,
Abhinav

I have read the description but have a couple of doubts. You can go for an MS, which will be more valuable. However, if you find that an MBA would be more helpful, I would like to know your area of interest to give the best suggestion. All the best!

I am glad that you gave a prompt reply! My constraints are that the family can't support my MS, and also, my area of interest is in the automobile industry. However, a bunch of questions comes to mind.

Questions About Future Prospects

Firstly, what comes after MS? Will I get a high-paying job back in India? Secondly, if I pursue an MBA, will I be able to maintain my roots in the technical field, i.e., the automobile industry? I get really confused at this juncture as I can't decide whether I can support my MS by myself. Currently, my CTC is 7.5 LPA, but as a member of a common middle-class family, supporting an MS is a concern for me.

Considering an MBA

I am considering an MBA because my current profile suggests that it could lead to a better position for me. However, I wonder if an MBA will align with my area of interest. Will I be happy in a post-MBA position? I have a passion for the automobile industry, but then I question whether I should focus purely on the technical aspect or if I should incorporate management skills. I often feel lost at this point.

Please help me. Provide me with some information and shed some light on this matter.

Best Regards
