PHASE-II (Poll Day: 07.05.14) – Please refer to the attachment for the name of the Parliamentary Constituency.

According to Section 135-B of the Representation of People Act, it mandates that every person employed in any business, trade, industrial, and other establishments, who is entitled to vote at an election to the house of the people or legislative assembly of the State, shall be granted a holiday on the day of polling. There shall be no deduction or abatement of wages for any such persons on account of the holiday granted for polling day.

I have a query. If the company has a policy to provide weekend paid leaves and declares that the polling day is a holiday, employees must compensate for this day by working the following Saturday. Can employees seek overtime pay for working on the next Saturday to compensate for the holiday?
