Dear All, I would like you all to help me understand whether Republic Day falling on a Sunday (2014) will be a paid day apart from the general week off, i.e., Sunday. Will this day be double paid, if I may say so?

If your weekly off is a paid holiday, there is no need to pay anything. But if your calculation doesn't include the weekly off day, then you have to pay a day's wages or provide a day off, which has to be incorporated into your list of holidays for 2014. National holidays are fixed and considered as paid holidays. So, it would be better to give a day's wage or a day off to address this.
Thank you.
Thank you.
No need to pay double payment on your query day if a national holiday falls on the weekly off day; we can consider it as a regular weekly off or a holiday (single payment). If an employee works on a national holiday, we should provide compensatory off or overtime pay.
Thanks,

Dear all, It appears that you have a weekly holiday on Sunday, and January 26, 2014, falls on a Sunday as well. Therefore, there will be no additional payment or holiday for those who already have a weekly holiday on the 26th. If anyone is required to work on that day, please refer to the provisions in the standing orders applicable to you and act accordingly.
