Dear Kavita, It sometimes happens that, due to some reason, an employee misbehaves with their reporting boss. This needs to be tackled nicely to maintain decorum and harmony inside and outside the organization.

Steps to Address Employee Misbehavior

- Try to know the reason first before moving to any sort of conclusion, as the other employees present may create chaos if your decision matters a lot.
- Check who was at fault. Although you have mentioned it, analyzing the situation will help you better judge the reason for the rude reaction by the employee.
- Make the space and other employees focus on their work rather than gossiping or spreading any rumors.
- Arrange a meeting with both parties by the HR Manager or a senior person of the concerned department, or both, to solve the issue. Follow this by asking for a sorry letter/email from the person found at fault.
- Place a notice on the notice board regarding the rules and steps management can take if such behavior is repeated, or your decision. This can be neglected too, depending on your management policy.
