I am working as a Senior Executive HR with a real estate organization. I need to develop a questionnaire to identify the training needs. We haven't had any training programs before. It is like starting from scratch. Can anybody suggest how to start? What will be the starting point?

You can ask every person/position what training he/she is looking for. Please discuss with the Section Head/Supervisor/HOD/Reporting Authority of all the positions and ask what he/she wants his/her junior to be trained in. Please divide these different requirements into immediate, short-term, and long-term training needs. Please ensure that all training needs are duly approved by the Plant Head/CEO. If there are any corrections needed, they will be made at that time.

Understanding Training Needs

In understanding your training needs, you can use the OOM analysis. Analyze what your organization lacks, understand the operation better, and also the needs of the employees. This will help you identify your training needs more effectively.

Be open for employees to approach as well. This is also a valuable platform for you to understand their training needs better.
