Hi team, the canteen contractor always complains that some employees take breakfast two or three times when they like, while on other days, they do not take breakfast, resulting in wastage. Currently, we have a flat deduction for all employees who avail food in the canteen, with security only counting the number of employees (no other mechanism in place).

Implementing an Effective Headcount System

Management expects us to implement an effective system for headcount. They suggest starting a coupon system immediately. Should we proceed with this initiative? I would like to understand what precautions need to be taken and how effective this system is.

Additionally, I need to prepare a presentation on this topic.

Implementing an Effective Coupon System in Canteens

The coupon system is the most effective and widely implemented in many canteens. All you need to ensure is that:

- Coupons cannot be duplicated under any circumstances.
- Coupons collected at the counter must not be circulated again. A trustworthy person must be appointed at the reception.
- Prepare a headcount report at the end of every meal.

It will take three months to streamline the entire process. Initially, you may face a few problems. As you progress further, analyze the issues and replace them with solutions; you will understand the entire process.

Alternative Solution: Biometric System

Another option I can suggest is to make the best use of a biometric system for monitoring canteen attendance. Plates may be issued upon valid check-in.

With profound regards,
