I completed my MBA in Hospitality with a specialization in HR/Finance, where I did my project in HR for 4 months and learned basic HR tasks such as:

1. Attendance update (Star Software)
2. Masters updation
3. Joining formalities
4. Preparing interview schedules
5. Employee engagement
6. BOM matrix update
7. Employee filing

These are the tasks I had the opportunity to learn in 4 months and worked on. Now, I feel that these may not be as useful for finding a job. Could you please suggest a good institute where I can learn more about the functioning of the HR department and improve my job prospects? Please help me.

Respecting Your Internship Knowledge

No knowledge is a waste. Even a dead watch shows the correct time twice a day. So, respect the knowledge you gained during your internship. The knowledge you acquired during the internship is still relevant when you perform as an HR professional. However, this is not to dismiss any hunger to learn more. It is admirable that you have shown such inclination. You can pursue short-term certification courses in practical HR like labor management, industrial relations, or compensation designing, etc.

You can try Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's diploma in Industrial Relations or explore whether the universities in A.P offer any short-term courses in specialized streams of HR, or the ISTD (Indian Society for Training & Development) diploma in Training & Development, etc. However, I advise you to get into a Generalist HR profile to gain overall exposure to HR.

Exploring Management Institutes in Andhra Pradesh

Look for management institutes in Andhra Pradesh that offer diploma courses in specialized streams, excluding HRM since you have already completed a course in that field. To my knowledge, BVB has its center in Guntur. Please verify this information. Additionally, the Welingkar School of Management in Mumbai offers short-term courses in HR. However, considering you are located in Andhra Pradesh, explore reputable institutes within the state.

Seeking Recommendations for Institutes in NCR

I have completed my MBA with HR as a specialization in 2010 and have been working as an HR Executive at KRBL Ltd. However, I am not satisfied with my current growth. Could you suggest some good institutes in NCR as well?

Industry-Relevant Skills in HR

By "industry relevant," I mean that what you learn should be capable of instilling a skill in you that can be applied to a practical situation while discharging your functions as an HR professional in an industry. You should choose such streams now, as you have already completed an MBA in HR to acquire a conceptual understanding of HR.
