Executive MBA vs. Regular MBA
Is an Executive MBA equivalent to a Regular MBA? What is the scope of an Executive MBA? I also want to know which college offers an Executive MBA with greater weightage.
Looking forward to your prompt response.

Comparison of Full-Time and Executive MBAs
Nothing is equivalent to a Full-Time MBA. However, it also depends on the institute. For example, a part-time MBA from MDI will likely hold more value than a Full-Time MBA from any B-grade college. The worth of the degree also relies on the type of experience you possess. An Executive MBA carries more weight with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the same field.
Three years of Executive MBA from institutions such as MDI, IMI, FORE, DU, and LBS are highly regarded. There are also other options you can explore. If you need any clarification, feel free to write or discuss.
Thank you.

If I had to choose between two candidates where one had a full-time MBA and another an Executive MBA for the same position and with identical work experience (all other criteria being the same), I would always be inclined to select the Executive MBA.
Why?
Because Executive MBAs are only open to those who have worked prior to enrolling in the course. Mostly, they complete the course while they are still working—often more than one job—because one job pays their bills while the other pays for the Executive MBA.
Without sounding condescending to the regular MBAs, the work ethic, personal discipline, motivation levels, sheer dedication, and the quantum of focused action required for the Executive MBA to hold on to even one full-time job while completing a 12- or 18-month course are absolutely massive!
This isn’t just my opinion. It’s the opinion of a lot of senior leadership in progressive organizations—particularly the ET500 organizations. It goes to show an individual's self-drive, self-belief, passion, ambition, and commitment. These are vital behavioral characteristics that employers want their managers (especially junior managers) to possess from day one.
So, my advice to you is that if you are working and contemplating an Executive MBA—I salute you!—don’t denigrate yourself by comparing yourself to a full-time MBA. While that definitely has its place in the world as it may be, by the time you complete your course, you’ll stand head and shoulders above the rest!
Have total belief in yourself. Have total belief in the path you are trying to carve for yourself. And take that first step—enroll for your Executive MBA.
I tip my hat to you and wish you all the very best!
