Dear all, these days, I am interning with a company. My project involves benchmarking employee engagement practices. Specifically, I have to focus on activities that are innovative and new. Please provide me with some innovative ideas that I can implement. I am looking for ideas beyond the typical birthday celebrations or outings—something different that can create fun at work. These ideas can be small but effective.

Thank you,
Sakshi

Conduct "Graphology sessions" to identify the strengths of each individual. Alternatively, encourage others to identify only the strengths of their colleagues in the presence of everybody. The appreciation should be honest and not artificial.

Thank you, Sheel, for your response. It's quite innovative. I will share it with my mentor.

Hey Prasanna, my organization is very small, with only 120 employees. This initiative is not specifically for new joiners. I am actually looking for small-scale, fun ideas to implement at work—something very new and out-of-the-box. Kindly suggest.

Thanks in advance.

You can organize a "Thank You Day." You can arrange chart papers and colors for employees to create their own thank-you cards, or you can also allocate a notice board in a common area for employees to post their thank-you messages on it. This activity will not only boost fun at work but also help acknowledge each other and enhance team spirit.

Hope this suggestion is useful.

You can plan for a "Cute Baby Contest" for your associates.

Procedure:

- Ask the associates to bring one of their childhood photographs.
- Paste all the collected childhood pictures on a decorated chart or board without mentioning their original names (you may mention their pet names if feasible).
- Allot number tags to each photo.
- Design a voting slip and also a ballot box for voting.
- Conduct voting for the cutest baby (all the associates need to vote for the cute baby they like the most from the photos displayed).
- Whoever gets the majority of the votes shall be declared the cutest baby. 

Innovative Employee Engagement Activities

1. Play some short quiz games across the organization, which can be fun-filled.

2. Do some skits. At the annual day, we used to perform very interesting skits. This will have many benefits, such as helping to create healthy relations and providing a platform for showcasing talent.

3. Have a fashion show for everyone and have them walk the ramp.

4. Play dumb charades.

5. Organize a treasure hunt in the office.

6. Organize tug of war or hurdle games.

7. Conduct competitions like the best funny video, similar to America's Funniest Home Videos.

Innovative Employee Engagement Ideas

1. Go for a spelling bee contest, as it is very popular right now.

2. You can also organize a quiz about your company or the products/services it offers.

3. Organize a Mother's Day or Father's Day event. Ask employees to write messages to their parents on the company letterhead and send a small gift along with it.

4. Consider hosting training sessions such as yoga or dance classes.

5. Organize a free medical check-up camp for employees.

6. Engage in team-building activities by distributing teams and assigning them tasks that they must complete together.

Ensure to maintain a single line break between each paragraph for better readability.

You can arrange a collage-making competition (creating a poster or message by cutting pictures from old magazines or newspapers) or a Sudoku competition. Additionally, you can create a PowerPoint presentation of old trip pictures or fun office pictures by incorporating music. This will help refresh the memories of the journey of your organization.

Purchase some games from the market, such as completing a picture by arranging parts in the proper order.

Hope this will help you...

Spell Bee Contest for Employee Engagement

Spell Bee is a contest where difficult words are given to spell. For example, words like "Accordion," "Barrette," and terms related to medical science. In the office area, go with a set of words and start asking employees to spell a word. You will ask them to spell words from an easy level to a difficult level, with only one try for each word. For each correct answer, hand over a toffee or chocolate for the easy level and a gift for the winner of the tough level. Once the employee fails to spell it correctly, they are out of the game. Proceed to another employee. This game is cost-effective and has a high level of involvement.
