Start with an ice-breaking question like, "Tell me about yourself," etc.
If I provided you with a job vacancy, how would you fill it? What procedure would you follow?
Give me an example of a time when you worked as part of a team. What was your role? What did you achieve?
Imagine you are working alone in the office, and a colleague asks you something you don't know. How would you respond?
Imagine you are very busy and have a lot of work to do. You then notice a colleague who is not doing anything. What would you do in such a situation?
What do you think the job you applied for involves?
Why should I recruit you?
Do you have any knowledge of statutory compliance?
What do you do when you have nothing to do at work, and your manager is not around?
What do you expect from the company?
Who is the Human Resource Minister of India? - Just to check his general knowledge.
What are the income tax slabs for the year 2012-2013?
Imagine you are going on a holiday for one week at work. What would you do before leaving?
What are your hobbies, etc.?
Hope these questions help.

Ask related questions about his studies, native place, and family particulars. Test his subject knowledge, observe his personality and way of expression. Ask him to write a letter about any relevant subject to assess his handwriting and English proficiency. Observe his temperament by keeping him waiting for some time before calling him for the interview, etc.

Actually first of all after completion of self details you have to ask him questions on basic knowledge of HRM, if you found satisfactory then you go for his attitude, behaviour, and others

Dear all, please, please, please avoid these types of postings and replies. We need to mature beyond this. An Assistant Manager should have a minimum of 4-5 years of professional experience. He is hiring his own subordinate and seeking advice on the types of questions to ask. I believe he could have placed himself in the interviewee's shoes and formulated questions. He could have recalled the questions he was once asked or researched previous posts on this forum regarding the same topic.
If he is the one asking questions, how well does he understand the answers? If he is preparing to be the interviewer, what will be the quality of the interview? Furthermore, let's refrain from responding to such queries. By spoon-feeding answers, we hinder the creativity of the person seeking advice. Please, take a moment to reflect.
Thank you.

Questions for HR Freshers
Now, let's come to the point: what questions can you ask an HR fresher, as they may not be aware of the statutory compliances that are being implemented? Simply, you can ask them about competency mapping, brainstorming, Kaizen, and their knowledge regarding the theoretical aspects of the Factory Act and other labor laws they studied.
Apart from that, you can present them with a case about an industrial dispute and then inquire about how they would go about resolving it. This approach will definitely help in evaluating the candidate's competency mapping, which is necessary for new hires.
I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thanks

This is Navdeep, and I am the one who posted this. However, I don't think that whoever replied to my query is wasting their time. You are taking it in another way. I never hired an MBA HR fresher, so I was a bit confused about what kind of questions I can ask them. Ram, Naresh, and all the others helped me, and I appreciate all of them for giving me their precious time.
Thank you so much, all of you!

Mr. Ramnaresh has provided several questions that can be asked. However, please ensure that the candidate is at ease to begin with. Slowly increase the pressure because individuals can make mistakes when under pressure, making it easier to assess them. Challenge their answers and observe their reactions. Present them with a situation or a people-related problem to see if they can provide a satisfactory response. Ultimately, they will be interacting with people.

First of all, HR itself is a huge area, and being a fresher, the candidate will be unable to answer all the questions in HR. So for a fresher in HR, the following areas can be highlighted:
1. Concepts in HR like Recruitment, Trends in that; Performance Appraisal & Management; Training and Development; Some questions on Salary; Give some live cases (HR based) and "judge" the way he analyzes the situation and takes a decision (like Recruitment, Promotion, Grievance handling) etc. Some questions like, "What would you do in this situation?" - again touching different aspects of HR.
2. Ask them what all the current practices in HR are; Companies having best practices in HR; Judge on Attitude, Interpersonal relationship; teamwork, leadership qualities.
3. A very important question: Why did you choose HR as the career option over Marketing, IT, Operations, etc., which are good paying options to check the Passion in HR profession.

You can ask him/her about recruitment stages and the difference between recruitment and selection. If you need to know his/her legal knowledge, you can ask about PF and ESIC contributions, as well as components of salary. These are some basic questions that we can ask HR fresher candidates.

Since you are going to conduct the interview, you must have an idea of what role and skill sets are required to perform the job effectively. Ask precise questions according to the requirements. If this is your first time conducting an interview, do your best and learn from the experience.
I also agree with Mr. Peer's advice. Kindly assist but avoid spoon-feeding.
