We urgently need a good yearly safety activities plan and training calendar for setting up our yearly action plan. Hoping for early responses from the seniors and other members of Cite-HR.

Attached is the PowerPoint (ppt) file of the training calendar for your use. Please modify it as per your requirements. The yearly safety activities plan needs to be completed by you. Could you please let us know the type of industries you are working in? We will then suggest some suitable plans.
Hope this helps. Keep on sharing.

Dear Ajay,
First of all, a warm welcome to the CiteHR EHS forum. Kindly let us know the following to guide you properly:
1. What is your budget for safety? Safety is a costly business, and you need money to achieve better results.
2. To whom do you want to deliver training?
3. Do you have the infrastructure available for imparting training? Are you planning classroom training or on-the-job training?
4. How committed and supportive is your management towards safety?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Dear Raghu,
Good input and timely help to our members. Keep on sharing.
Thank you.

First, I would like to express my gratitude to all the seniors and the Cite-HR team for their support and responses. I am hopeful that we can continue in the same manner.
1. We do not have any concerns regarding the budget for training. The Training Budget is managed by the HR Training department, so we only need to suggest to them based on our training plan.
2. We need to conduct training for our regular employees, including senior-level executives, junior executives, and some training for educating contractor supervisors/workers.
3. We have an Employee Development Center with all the necessary infrastructure available.
4. Our organization is a Public Sector Undertaking, so we receive maximum support from the management.
Improving Safety Culture
Please advise accordingly on how to improve the safety culture in our organization. I am looking forward to your prompt response.

From your reply, it is understood that there are no issues with the infrastructure and support from the management. If so, you can conduct training in a very effective manner. I will advise the following for your employees' training:
1. Training Need Identification of all your employees should be done as a first step.
2. Training modules (Topics/Subjects) should be decided based on your plant requirements such as Electrical Safety, Work At Height, Scaffolding, Confined Space, Crane Safety, Excavation, etc.
3. If you have 100 employees, firstly decide to whom you have to give training and on which modules.
4. Develop some internal trainers. Your line managers can be selected as trainers. Provide them with training (Train The Trainer) from experts to make them good internal trainers. If you have a good safety department or safety personnel, consider imparting training from the line managers to make it more effective. Involving more people in the safety journey will improve the safety culture and yield better results.
5. Make a training calendar after all these exercises. Depending on the number of batches required and the time period to complete, decide how many sessions should be conducted in a month.
6. You may involve your HR Department in performing all the above tasks. Be a facilitator to monitor.
If you succeed in implementing the above steps, it will be a great achievement.
If you require any further information, please let me know. I am also looking forward to the comments of other forum members regarding my suggestions.

Mr. Dipil has provided wonderful information; I would like to add a few points. We can select some workers and security personnel from each area like TG, boiler, ESP, etc., and provide training regarding the operation of fire hydrants and extinguishers, and include them in the fire-fighting team.
As per statutory norms, we must conduct a mock drill at least once every six months. (I am not sure; I got this information from my friend who works at a thermal plant).
Establishing a Safety Committee
Establishing a safety committee will help foster a better safety culture.
Training Programs
Provide training for executives and workers by third-party or outside agencies. Conduct training ourselves for the workers related to their tasks, such as separate training for bunker erection, bunker top flooring, jump form, slip form works in chimney, cooling tower, and silos.
Internal Meetings
Hold internal meetings with all department representatives at least once a fortnight to discuss issues and record minutes of the meeting.
Good write-up, Dipil. Keep in touch.
Regards.
