Hello everyone, find below the query of my brother and kindly give us a suggestion on what to do now. He is very upset. Please help.
Interview Experience at TCS
I attended the TCS interview on 6th January 2012. I passed all the rounds. The first round was an aptitude test (written test), and the second round was the HR round with "Sudeshna." After clearing the second round, she told me the third round would be held on 9th January 2012. I reached TCS for my third-round interview. The third round was a typing test. After completing my typing test round, she told me to wait for the fourth round.
The fourth round was the MR round. I don't know the MR's name, but she told me about the process; it's a Mortgage Banking process, and I should wait for the result. After some time, HR (Sudeshna) came and told me I was selected for the job and to come on 10th January for the pre-joining formalities. I also filled out the pre-joining formalities on 10th January, and after that, HR told me I would get the offer letter by mail or they would call me.
Post-Interview Dilemma
So, I resigned from my office and waited for the offer letter. After 38 days of getting no response from TCS, I reached TCS again and met with Sudeshna. I told her that I filled out the pre-joining formalities on 10th January and was waiting for the offer letter. She replied to me, "We have no vacancy at this time." I told her, "Madam, I have already resigned from my job," but she is not responding. I am in a very bad condition.

Thank you so much for your reply. I agree with your quoted points. It would have been much better if he hadn't resigned from his services before receiving any confirmation. Even after me telling him so many times, he did not listen. I would like to escalate this issue to a higher level in TCS. I am in the banking field and am not aware of the policies and procedures of HR. I feel you are the better person to ask for assistance. I would be very thankful to you if you could spare some time for us. Please help us with the mail format to take the issue further.
Thanking You,

Kindly identify the employee at a higher level and secure their contact details for addressing the concern with relevant documents. Seek an appointment with them to discuss the issue along with the submission of the letter. Your friend must be clear about the communication they had with the recruiter. It is advisable to have recorded information/documents supporting their issue, seeking justice. The information posted in your thread can be utilized for drafting a letter. Kindly send me a test email; I will mail you the draft copy.

Here's my suggestion: Offer rollbacks are not always declared, which is why applicants find themselves in this position. Ask your friend to apply for other jobs and not waste any time. There could be several reasons for this kind of mishap, but this is not the time to brainstorm about that.
Escalation and Feedback
Escalating may or may not yield any results. However, it remains essential to ask for written feedback via email on this issue. It will serve as a point of reference for any future job opportunities, if applied for at all.
Exploring Other Options
Any other option, such as requesting a similar role in other business units, might consume a lot of time. Your friend needs to secure a job first and then explore these time-consuming options within the firm in question.
I have reached out to an HR representative in this firm and am hoping to hear from them soon. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
Thank you.

In today's world, whatever you say orally will not be accepted unless everything is documented. Moreover, unless you get an offer letter from a company, you should not resign from your present company.
Background Verification Concerns
TCS is a company that conducts detailed background verification. What if the feedback collected is incorrect about your brother? Also, why has your brother not kept in touch with HR for 38 days?
Resignation Without an Offer Letter
Without knowing his joining date or receiving the offer letter from the company, how can a person resign from a job? As some members suggested, even if you escalate to top management, HR knows how to handle or clarify the situation.
Advice for Moving Forward
However, your brother is the one suffering, so advise him to start looking for a job immediately. In the next interview, the employer will likely inquire why he left a job without an offer letter, which he will need to address. The past is the past. Encourage him to stay positive, attend interviews, and secure a new job as soon as possible.
