Well, it depends on the kind of image he has in the company and, of course, whether he followed all rules and regulations after submitting his resignation. If yes, and he has completed all the formalities, then the company may consider waiving off his notice period.

Notice Period Waiver
It is within the employer's discretion to waive or insist on a notice period for resignation. An employer may waive a notice period:
1. Having regard to the long service of the employee.
2. Having regard to the unblemished service of the employee.
3. Having regard to the contributions made by an employee.
4. Having regard to the humanitarian considerations of the compulsions of the employee for leaving the service.
These are a few reasons.

It depends on the merit of the case. However, it is not advisable from the company's point of view. Rules are meant for all employees to be uniform. The notice period (NP) is intended for a smooth transition, and any waiver, unless on health grounds, defeats the very purpose of including the notice period clause in the appointment letter, in my opinion.

Dear Seniors, I have a question for my seniors. Kindly help me out and advise me. I was asked by my senior to resign as management has dissolved my post, and I resigned. In my resignation letter, I stated that because my senior asked me to resign due to the dissolving of the post, I am resigning and providing a proper one-month notice period. I received a letter of resignation acceptance, and my notice period was waived off, leading to my immediate release. Would I be entitled to one month's advance pay as per our institution's policy, or will they not allow it?
