Hi, I have completed my MBA in HR. I need details for further studies through distance learning. Can anybody help me out with the universities which offer PhD in HR? Also, please explain the difference between MPhil and PhD.

No recognized/state-owned university shall offer M. Phil through distance mode now (from 2007 onwards they have stopped offering M. Phil through distance mode). Ph.D. can be pursued through part-time internal/external modes. Furthermore, all recognized and state-owned universities require an entrance exam for Ph.D. admission (if you are NET/SET qualified, you are exempted from the entrance exam). Some universities may necessitate applying with a guide, while others assign university guides upon clearing the entrance exam and interview, subject to availability.

It is advisable to pursue a Ph.D. with state-owned universities to avoid potential recognition issues in the future. Registering for a Ph.D. has become a challenging task compared to the past. Therefore, it is important to carefully research universities, seek advice from friends and acquaintances, and consider all factors before enrolling in a program.

Please let me know if you need further clarification or assistance.

IGNOU as an Option for a PhD through Distance Learning

IGNOU is also an option for a PhD through distance learning. As they don't have entrance exams, please visit IGNOU - The People's University.

Currently, UGC rules do not allow for PhD or M.Phil. through correspondence. However, some universities do allow for Ph.D. through part-time internal/external modes. Typically, in such cases, one needs to attend regular classes for a few months and then continue with the thesis. You can search for a list of such universities through Google. Before enrolling, please be cautious about recognition. You can find details on recognition through the UGC website or by submitting a question to the UGC through RTI, to which the UGC is bound to respond.

Thank you.
