Hi all, I have to conduct a 2-day training program for software engineers and team leaders. The topic will be on leadership skills for 6 to 8 hours a day. I would really appreciate it if you all could give some suggestions on how to proceed with this program. I also need to know how to create a session plan for this training and if I could get some PowerPoint presentations for the same. It would be a great relief for me to receive a prompt response as the training will commence shortly.
Thanks,

Hi Maanu, my first suggestion is not to make your sessions any longer than 7 hours per day (including lunch and two 15-minute breaks). Eight hours is too long, especially for a leadership program.

Consider using Steven Covey's 'INSIDE-OUT' approach as espoused in 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.' There are a lot of practical exercises that go with it in a workbook titled 'The 8th Habit Personal Workbook.'
Alternatively, you can consider outsourcing the program to us. See how you go and let's talk. Take care!

There are instruments that determine the leadership style of an individual, and a behavioral science practitioner will have them. Reputed training institutes also possess these instruments. I will try to obtain one and send it. By using these instruments to help people realize their leadership style and assess whether it fits their work environment, I believe the learning process would be more effective. All the best.

Though I'm just a first-semester student, I would suggest starting with a presentation that sets the tempo of the workshop. Make them enthusiastic. Exemplify it with small leadership anecdotes of great people; it will generate interest and inspire them.
