We are a new manufacturing company and are in the process of developing the HR department for the company. We would like to know what the list of documents that are needed to be created, circulated, and maintained in an organization is. Are the Employee Handbook and code of conduct the same? Should these be created separately? What policies need to be maintained?

Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

Thank you.

The Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct are separate titles. The Employee Handbook contains complete information about the company to make new employees aware of the organization. On the other hand, the Code of Conduct outlines what employees should and shouldn't do.

Additionally, since each company's policies vary based on the nature, type, or kind of business or services provided.

Employee Handbook

The Employee Handbook details all the rules and regulations concerning employee entitlements: leave policy, travel expense policy, advance policy, performance review policy, salary administration policy, medical check, canteen, transportation, etc.

Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct will refer to what is expected regarding ethical conduct, what sort of declarations from individuals, gift policy, policy on transactions where there is a personal interest, sexual discrimination, whistleblower policy, etc.
