Dear all,
Recently, I joined a Construction Company with its corporate office in AP. We have commenced a project in West Bengal where we are crushing large stones into metals. Currently, more than 100 employees are working at this site.
My question is: under which act do we need to register our company?
Can anyone help me with this, please...?

Dear,
Besides CLA registration as the Principal Employer, in case you are working with contract labor, if all the workers are on the company's payroll, nothing is required under CLA.
For crushing, you require some plant and machinery; in any case, you require a license under the Factories Act. If it is in a covered area, coverage under the ESI Act will also be needed.

I agreed with Mr. Satish who rightly said, "CLRA is required if we are not an independent firm. If you are involved in any type of manufacturing process, even if it involves construction work, a factory act license is required from the concerned state."
Mr. Rajendera, thank you for the information. However, one thing I want to share with you is that the Construction Act of 1996 is covered under the Factory Act; it is not independent, so factory act registration is a must.
Dear M.V. Ranga Rao,
The Shops and Establishments Act of 1948 applies to contractor offices that are outsourced agencies working for others.
Thanks to all.
