For distance learning, IGNOU is preferable as it offers an MBA at a very reasonable rate, along with full support such as assignments, lectures, etc.

[IGNOU WEBSITE](http://www.ignou.ac.in)

As per my knowledge, Symbiosis offers a diploma that is equivalent to an MBA but is not an actual MBA degree.

Of course, Symbiosis, yaar... online exam, good study material, project work. Exams are online and can be given on demand. 4 years' time to complete. If you are a working person, then you may go for it. It's an autonomous body approved by AICTE, ranked 8th in all India distance learning.

I would say both are good until and unless you study well in any of this university and get good marks. but facilitywise i hope Symbiosis is little better than the other moreover equal.

Symbiosis is for those who are already working in the corporate world in a good management position and want to do an MBA. IGNOU is the best option because it is an international university and highly valued. I suggest that when you want to pursue an MBA with knowledge, IGNOU is the best choice. If you want a degree or diploma, then you can consider other options.

Well, I am currently pursuing my PGDHRM from Symbiosis, and I feel it's really good. I can take my exams as and when I want and have four years to complete it. Also, their study material is very good. The only downside is that if you are seeking a master's degree, they don't offer one; it's a diploma. Apart from that, everything else is very good and pretty simple.

MBA/PGDM through distance education is not recommended. Case studies, presentations, assignments, summer training, and class discussions are all missing in distance education. It is an application-oriented program. Unless the degree has ornamental value, it must be pursued as a regular student, preferably from a campus-based institute.

I had done MBA from IGNOU. Both the universities have some good and some bad points like IGNOU - 1. Time taking 2.5 years and entrance exam extra 2. Assignment are lengthy (if you are working you have to face a problem of time by writing the assignment and submit. 3. But IGNOU value is good, and it provides the Degree. Also, it is economical Rs. 1000 + 50 examination per paper * 21 papers.

Symbiosis: 1. Only provides PG diploma not a degree. 2. Cost is high 3. Easy to give exam as it is online for working.

Now depends upon you, whatever you like. Because Distance study always distance no matter from where you had done.

Hi Pawni,

Symbiosis is better, but they give you a Post Graduation (PGDBM) degree, not an MBA degree. However, they do provide easy language, proper study material, offer lecture options if needed, and conduct online exams. You should consider choosing Symbiosis.

I think Symbiosis is the better option. The university has greater teaching quality with a good reputation and good facilities. It is well-known and popular worldwide, with many students from abroad coming to India every year to obtain a degree from Symbiosis. Although Symbiosis provides a PG program in DBM, you can also pursue an M.B.S from there.

I agree with Mr. T K Guha.

If you are working in a good company and at a reasonably good position, where you are already exposed to good management practices and application of management principles for at least 3-5 years, you can go for an MBA through distance learning to enhance your theoretical knowledge about management. No good company will give any weightage to an MBA through distance learning. Rather, they prefer full-time MBAs from reputed institutes.

Dear,

I think if you compare the value of "MBA" from these 2 institutes, then I feel both have equal value. It depends on how you make efficient use of these courses and degrees. Choose any of the universities; in the market (corporate sector), both are on the same platform. Just try to gain as much information as you can.

All the very best for the future.

Hi,

I'm planning to go for an MBA through distance education from Sikkim Manipal University. Please guide me on whether this choice is suitable, and if not, which university I should consider that is cost-effective and can enhance my career prospects. I have three years of experience in payroll and am keen on pursuing an MBA in HR.

Please provide your guidance.

I would recommend you to go for IGNOU because of many reasons:

1. Only university in Asia having the maximum number of students on its roll.
2. Excellent curriculum (simple to complex) designed by experts from academia.
3. Maximum number of study centers across India.
4. Easy examination pattern.

Hi,

If you are working and want an MBA, I would suggest going for Bharti Vidyapeeth Deemed University. The course material is good. You can attend some contact programs (classes) on Sundays and have access to the library. Visit their website [Bharati Vidyapeeth University School of Distance Education, New Delhi](http://www.bvusde.com).

Otherwise, IGNOU is the best option.

Thanks,
Dev

According to me, if you are looking for a professional MBA, you better go for Symbiosis. It will help you in the corporate world. If you are planning to be a lecturer, please don't go for IGNOU as few colleges reject the CV while screening.

The question is absolutely wrong. It reflects a pretentiously traditional way of Indian thinking. Why do you guys only look at the brand name of the university rather than the curriculum and what you can learn from it? Are you going to pursue studies solely for the brand name of a certain university, or are you going to use your studies in your future career endeavors? Whether it's on-demand study, full-time, part-time, or distance education, it doesn't matter if the curriculum is strong and you have the required knowledge. Knowledge, skills, and experience will help you build a successful career. Personally, I didn't obtain my degree and MBA from a top-class university. However, I feel that I have proven myself in my career. Currently, I am in China, and before coming here, I had worked in India, the US, and Europe.

IGNOU is a government undertaking, so definitely it's better. It's economical and has easy facilities at study centers. They have assignments, case studies, and presentations through lectures.

I am presently studying MBA from IGNOU, and it's quite flexible to study with them.

One point I want to clarify is for those who have seriously mentioned the brand name. For working and married women, time is also a constraint. MBA is a passion for me, but I am not influenced by the brand name. Instead, I am seeking the quality of the course that universities provide to students.
