Hi.... can someone help me with latest amendments in the maternity benefit act.... i heard the its now been extended from 3 months to six months.... NC

Dear Member,

Under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961, this benefit is only for 84 days, and we have not heard any proposal for any amendment in the period of maternity benefit.

In my company, we are giving 3 months leave else no any compansation is this correct??? please reply

Hi,

I had also heard that these leaves were revised from 84 days to 6 months. However, I confirmed with our company's legal lawyer, and he clarified that the 6-month act is only applicable to the Government and Semi-Government sectors, not for Public Ltd. and Ltd. Companies.
