Dear Sirs,
We have a policy of not encouraging employees to marry each others and allow them to continue in work. If any body fall in love with an employee either male or female have to choose to quit the job after marriage.
I understand that WIPRO and other leading MNCs have a policy just oppoiste to it. ie, encouraging employees to contnue after marriage if not mistaken ''encouraging love marriages'' among employees.
I would like to have better understanding on this topic..

what is wrong in employees marriage, what is the reason to office, infact many large and brand named organisation do not interfere in this type of matter, proffessional life and personal life is two different things, companies are not authorised to interffere in employees personal life. companies have borrowed employees for 9hrs after that no matter what he do but it should not affect company (for example criminal act etc) or else what is wrong in marriage ? does it matter in the performance of an employee. will the employee perform less if he or she marries to his collegue ?

Dear Friends,
Most of the compnaies are having the policy of NOT hiring the following candidates.
1. Current employee's family members.
2. Husband and wife (even they marry after joining in company)
3. Relatives of the current employee, etc.
4. Employees who are near to the factory.
The reasons are, if they hire two ot three members from a same family, the opportunity for other members to work in that particular company will be less. Others also should be given chance to work. And, If they hire the family members or relatives, there is possibilites of corrupting company details and can be misused (if they work in th esame dept).
All the family matters will result in work place, and personal problem will lead to poor performance in the same company.
Like these there are more reasons. I need seniors suggestion on the above topic.

Dear Yasmin,
I can understand your views..but if start encouraging wont it be affecting total discipline of the work force. I am talking about a situation where female work force with 18-22 years age group in a gament manufacturing set up.
But as my friend suggested we need to debate more on this...

if employees working on good respectable post and is professional, then there is no problem, i have seen in good ltd compnaies husband and wife working together in the same premises, same department and same table but still behaving stranger to each other while on duty, but having lunch together in canteen which discloses their loving relations.

As a rule, I dont think that companies should discourage colleagues from getting married. It is a matter of personal choice. So, as long as work and ethics are not hurt, they should try and support this.
We too have married couples working in our company; the only rule is that they cannot be in the same team (reason being there could be favoritism if one of them is the supervisor or dept head). In case 2 employees in the same department decide to get married, we transfer one of them to another department.

ya i agree with chonds statement. It is nice to transfer some other dept or some other project in order to avoid problems. I wont accept these kind of policy. As jesu said many of the companies have some policy like they wont hire employee family members and relatives. I welcome this kind of policy for better performance and improvement.
And Mr. Ramesh dont give restriction for Couples and lover in your company. Allow them to marry and dont encourge these kind of policy.

Hi All
In my previous company initially we had a policy where, an employees spouse cannot be hired and if any employee falls in love with another employee then any one of them needs to quit maximum 3 months from the date of marriage. Later we found it hard as we lost some valuable employees because of this policy, so the management revised the policy as that an employee and his/her spouse cannot work in a same department / under same reporting authority. Now every thing is going fine.
Normally company's hesitate to hire the spouse of and employee, as there is a possibility for having Ego clash because of salary, designation etc. which also creates problems to the management.
But there are some advantages also in having the couples as employees in the company, like attrition (employee will think twice before putting his/her papers as his/her spouse is also working in the same company), transfers (it will be easy to transfer an employee to other location along with his/ her spouse), on-site etc.

Dear All,
Thank you for every body's views.. I understand that majority is not in favor of ask an employee to submit the paper when he/she fall in love with a colleague. Other way it has more positive sides also like better bonding with the organisation, reduced attrition etc.
Mean while few management issues like combined late coming, combined leave for family function also need to be looked in. But having a policy that not to have both in same reporting relationship or in department also will reduce these problems I think
Any thanks a lot
