I would like to know about the various types of HR managers typically found in the HR department of a company. Currently, I am working in a company where there is an HR head and a group head of Learning & Development. Additionally, there are managers in specific roles such as HR Manager - Recruitment, HR Manager - Operations, HR Manager - Salary Processing, and HR - Compliances, among others.
I am a little confused about where to start if I want to pursue a career in HR. Furthermore, I am interested in enrolling in a one-year PG course in HR through distance learning. Please provide information on institutions or universities that offer this course at a minimal fee. I have been suggested Pondicherry University. Would you recommend pursuing the course at Pondicherry University?

Irrespective of any discipline in HR, it all means the same.
Since, as you have said, there are many HR managers for various functions, I would suggest that you go into any one of them. There would be no harm in working in any field in HR, but also keep knowledge of various functions of HR in your company.
As far as your distance education for HR is concerned, I would suggest that you can apply for Symbiosis because doing distance learning from a well-known reputable institution will be reflected in your resume.

It seems you are working with a big company where they have an 'HR Manager' for all HR aspects. As rightly conveyed by Mr. Ankit, all mean the same. The main area is 'HR domain'. In small to middle-level organizations, one or two persons usually handle all these functions.
Coming to your career progression, you need to introspect yourself into which HR domain, i.e., Recruitment, T&D, Payroll, etc., you would like to build your career. But at the same time, you should have a basic knowledge of all other domains.
For distance learning, it's very important to choose a well-known university like Symbiosis, Sikkim Manipal, etc. Doing distance learning from an unknown/less familiar university will not add much weightage to your credentials.
