The ESI Corporation has approved to enhance wage ceiling from Rs 10,000 per month to Rs15,000 per month for coverage of employees under the ESI Scheme in its 149th meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Labour and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge.
Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Harish Rawat and the vice-chairman, ESIC, were also present in the meeting.
Keeping in view the increase in cost of living index and recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Labour, the corporation increased the wage ceiling limit for coverage of the employees under the ESI Scheme.
This will help the corporation to provide social security net to more and more employees of the organised sector.

Dear All,
Kindly note. It takes some more time to issue a notification. This is because, raise in the wage ceiling limit amounts to amendement of a particular section of the act and that needs to be tabled in the parliament. After going through the process of getting passed in both the houses of the parliament, this needs to be signed ultimately by the president. Hence it should take another three months minimum to get the notification and the effective date can be retrospective.
Kind regards

Dear R.P,
1. May be you are right as per your statement. But it is one side statement. E.S.I is the most better option for the employee who are getting the salary very low.
2. I have a live example last month ESI provide Rs 3,50,000/- cheque to an employee to got his treatment. Else his contribution was very short compare then this amount. And I think its enough by the ESIC.
3. On point no.3 i would like to tel you, The uses of E.S.I facility depend on the nature of service of an employee. If you see facility industry 87 % employee does used it.
4. On last point its Good to you and for your family that you have not used it ever.
Hope you understand.
Kind Regards

The union minister has approaved to enhance wage ceilin from 10000-15000/- per month for coverage of employees under the ESI Scheme. it is appreciable. But the limit of employees from 10 should be decreased upto 5. Many organisations are having 10 employees but they do not show in the register. I am woking as an Accountant in a private firm since1986 . I am getting Rs.9600/- per month towards salary No ESI, EPF facility is being provided. What is social security for me. NO labour Inspector comes in our GB Road Machinery Market.
