Hello everyone!

Can anyone tell me what PeopleSoft HRMS Functional is and what the general job description is for professionals in this field? If anyone is interested in furthering their career in this field, what courses should they undergo, and what would be the initial package?

I would be glad to receive positive feedback.

Kanika

Hi Kanika,

PeopleSoft is an ERP package by Oracle. As a functional consultant, you are responsible for firstly understanding the client's HR practices and policies. You then need to map these practices to the delivered features of PeopleSoft and determine the extent of customizations required.

You have to prepare functional designs, perform configurations once the system is developed by the tech team, and also test the system to ensure it aligns with what was prepared in the functional design documents. It is always advisable to have some technical background and knowledge about HR. There is a certification offered by Oracle for the same.

The initial package offered to a fresher is around 3 lakhs per annum. I hope I have answered your queries. Good luck.

Hi!

Thanks, Anshul, for your elaborate and specific reply. Where can a fresher obtain this certification? What would be the duration and cost incurred? I would be very glad to receive your positive feedback.

Kanika, Try out the Oracle website. Under Oracle University, you can find more information. See if this link helps you: [Oracle University](http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=3&p_org_id=108054 4&lang=US). I am not very sure about the cost, but they offer both classroom training and e-learning modules for learning. You can choose either option. Wish you all the best.

Hi,

As far as my knowledge reaches, you need not be a certified professional in using these systems. When an organization decides to migrate from the legacy system to online systems, they get in touch with those who customize and design systems as per the organization's requirements. They place their trained resources on-site for training and system implementation, which makes the work even easier. The rest involves backend management, similar to handling any online portal of the department (like Sharepoint). Some examples include Polaris - Adrenalin, Empower, HRIS, and Peoplesoft.

These courses are very demanding, and the cost is equally high, ranging anywhere between 2-3 lakhs.

I have been working on systems since the beginning of my career, having worked on most of them without any certifications or specific academic qualifications. It's my personal inclination and passion. My familiarity with these systems has also enabled me to design Sharepoints for my organizations.

Feel free to revert in case of any queries.

Thanks!

Regards,

Arati

Oracle conducts training on different modules of PeopleSoft from time to time, but they are often expensive and mainly held in metropolitan areas. These certifications are beneficial for professionals with a PeopleSoft technical background looking to transition into the functional side or for HR and other professionals seeking to become PeopleSoft ERP functional consultants. However, these certifications may not be very useful for freshers as it would be extremely challenging for them to break into the field solely with this training.
