After working 2 days only, I made a decision to leave the job - Will absconding affect my banking careers ahead?

Hi, This is Bikram. I have joined the HDFC bank ltd. on 6th April 2023. On 11th April 2023 after working like 2 days only , I made a decision to leave the job. But the HR is saying he will abscond me if I leave without serving notice period. Will absconding affect my banking careers ahead

I think you already know the answer to that question.

Absconding is likely affect many careers you wish to pursue in future. Already you have proven to be unreliable in the eyes of future employers. It costs money to recruit and onboard new staff. Your HR has every right to be angry about your actions.

We have at least 2 or 3 posts every week here on CiteHR about absconding. It is a subject that has been done to death and yet people keep doing it, knowing it is wrong.

Why did you leave? Did you do your due diligence on the bank before you accepted the offer to join it? In the future you will need to take more care with choosing who you wish to work for.

The career decisions are to be handled with due sensitivity. Just two days after joining if someone approaches HR and starts telling him/her that he/she would like to quit the company, then what HR is supposed to do? On the abandonment of employment, HR will not just mark you absent but you could be sent a legal notice for not paying the notice period pay. Are you financially strong enough to pay or fight the legal case?

Well, gentleman, I recommend you reconcile with the situation. What exactly happened that made you think of separation from an organisation that is a prominent national brand? Remove the negative thoughts from your mind. If you have received another offer, then ignore it.

While taking a decision, find out if there will be long-term implications. Unwise haste sometimes proves to be costly.

As you are aware that knowing what is important to you and your values, what you enjoy and your interests, and what you do well to your skills will make it easier. I would suggest you to serve the notice period mentioned on the duly signed appointment letter or you can pay the recovery amount against the notice payment.

Why you want to quit that even without information ? Do you have any justifying reason behind your reason ?

Have you thought about the future implications if you abscond without any information ?

What so ever reason /justification you have it is not wise decision to quit without information.

Stick on to your current employment for some time. May be after 6 months or 1 year still if you are not able to fit into the workplace culture submit resignation with proper notice period and get relieved properly.

There are many youngsters who are dreaming of a Bank employment but you got opportunity to join the bank so think a lot before you quit
