Navigating FNF Settlements: Should I Ask HR About Severance Pay Too?

Hi, kindly suggest me. I was relieved from my company in June 2020. My company's HR informed me that my termination would take effect from the end of June, and they mentioned that they would pay 2 months' salary along with fnf (final settlement) and provide a relieving letter after 45 days.

Due to my poor performance, they removed me immediately without any notice period. They instructed me to leave promptly and assured payment of 2 months' salary after 45 days.

My Question

Does fnf include severance pay? I would like to draft an email to my HR inquiring about my fnf settlements. Should I mention severance pay along with fnf settlements, or should I only refer to fnf settlement?

Dear Krissh123, before your exit, your HR should have clarified what dues the company is liable to pay to you. Many companies issue a proper letter to the employee regarding the amount of pending dues and the disbursement schedule. This clarity is crucial at the time of separation. It seems that your HR has not provided you with such a letter.

At this stage, I recommend you send a letter requesting clarification on the pending dues. Let HR specify the amount they will pay and the payment timeline. If there are any discrepancies or differences in the calculation, bring them to the attention of HR.

What if the company refuses to give the severance pay?

Or they back off, saying that they didn't inform me.

When I completed my PIP, they informed me that they were not satisfied with my work and wanted to remove me immediately. They mentioned that I did not need to serve the 2-month notice; instead, they would pay 2 months of severance pay along with FNF after 45 days. They asked me to drop a resignation email so they could acknowledge and provide me with my last working day at the organization.

Accordingly, I sent a formal letter stating that due to some personal problems, I am resigning and requested them to inform me of my last working day.

They acknowledged my email. My concern is that if at the last moment they claim they did not inform me about the severance pay and refuse to issue me the relieving letter because I did not serve any notice. They did not provide me with any letter specifying the amount of severance pay, and in an email, just mentioned it during the WebEx call meeting.

What should I do?
