Dear Sukanya,
Though I have not worked in hospital or I was not associated with the blood bank as such, from my
consulting experience on Performance Management System (PMS), I have designed the KPIs for the blood bank. You may use the following KPIs to measure the performance of the blood bank:
a) Capacity utilisation: - storage capacity used against storage capacity available
b) Turnaround time: - Average number of days/weeks for which the average bottle remained on the shelf
c) Obsolesce: - % of blood bottles became obsolete because of overage (remained with blood bank beyond expiry date). Formula is (Number of bottles became obsolete*100/Total bottle capacity)
d) Quality: - % of blood bottles rejected because of the contamination went undetected at the blood bank
Thanks,
