The returns to be filed by the employer may be prescribed in the Rules of the Acts. Kindly refer to the Rules of the concerned Act. The same may vary from State to State depending upon the State Rules of the Central Acts.

All the labor-related Acts are available in Swamy's Law Books in Chennai.

As rightly mentioned by Mr. R. N. Khola, no returns are prescribed under the Equal Remuneration Act of 1976. However, the employer has to maintain a Register of employees in "Form D" as mentioned in Section 8, Rule 6. This Register is required to be produced before the Inspector appointed under Section 9 during an inspection.

Actually, I inquired about returns under the ER Act, and Mr. R N Khola responded and provided clarification. He mentioned that he did not review the Dock Workers Act but rather the ER Act.

Thanks,
Sandhiya R
