Minimum Wages for Textile Industry Workers in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government has not yet notified any minimum wages for textile industrial workers. The industry has been included in the schedule, and the minimum wages will be published in the TN Gazette. However, minimum wages for apprentices in the textile industry were notified in November 2008.

Clarification on National Floor-Level Wages for Tamil Nadu Spinning Industry

Can national floor-level wages be considered applicable wages for regular workers in the Tamil Nadu spinning industry, given that minimum wages are fixed only for apprentice categories? However, the minimum wages fixed for apprentices are higher than the national floor-level minimum wages. Kindly clarify.

Certainly, any industry that does not fall under a Scheduled industry, for which the State Government has prescribed minimum wages, has to pay the National Floor Level wages.
