How Can I Liven Up a Dull Workplace as a New HR Executive in Pharma?

Hi Gurus, I have recently joined as an HR Executive in a pharmaceutical company, but the environment here is very dull. Please suggest some activities or events that I can organize to make the place interesting and worth working.

First, you should talk to your higher management. If they have a positive attitude, you can arrange events such as Corporate Night (Annual/Bi-annual), Family Day, departmental/whole office tours, Enjoy a Movie, Birthday Wishes, Lunch or Dinner, IQ Tests, Employee of the Month recognition, Reward Programs, etc.

Hello Nitesh, why don't you go through the earlier threads in this very forum? There are many of them. You are sure to get some ideas—maybe then you can put across focused/specific queries as a new thread.

I think it is too early to label the environment of your organization as 'dull' as it is the general tendency of people to compare the environment of the last organization to the present one and may feel a mismatch for a few days. However, please try as suggested by TS.

All the best,

Why don't you consider a meditative process to increase the energy level of the environment? You could organize a very interactive holistic session to understand the temperaments of your staff and co-workers.

It would be interesting to have a meeting and customize a program to enhance the atmosphere and make it full of vibrant energy.

Employee Engagement Activities

First, start with simple birthday wishes generated through email, and the records will be available in your databank of employees.

Secondly, organize some sort of CSR activities in your localities, which will enhance your company's image.

Organize the Annual Day functions of your company elaborately with all the staff and their family members. You can even organize a party for the Financial Year Close.

You may notice a change in the attitude of the employees after these types of events.
