Generalist HR: As it is very much clear from the word "generalist," the person with a generalist HR profile has to oversee the entire domain of HR, from Manpower Planning to Employee Separation & Exit Interview. This includes functions such as Manpower Planning, Recruitment, Selection, Induction, Performance Management, Time Office Management, Compensation Planning, Grievance Handling, Employee Relations & Statutory compliances. It means the person in a generalist profile may lead the apex position of the Human Resources Department.
Specialist HR: As it is very much clear from the term "specialist HR," the person with a specialist HR profile needs to focus on a specific domain of HR, such as Manpower Planning, Recruitment, Selection, Induction, Performance Management, Time Office Management, Compensation Planning, Grievance Handling, Employee Relations & Statutory compliances. It means the specialist may be the Cell Head of their specific domain.
