Contract Labor Wages: What Does the Contract Labor Act of 1971 Say About Pay?

vipul tripathi
What wages should be given to contract labor? Is there any specification given in the Contract Labor Act of 1971 or any other act?

Dear,

If you are covered under the Contract Labour (R&A) Act, 1970, then you are required to follow the terms and conditions of the license for the disbursement of wages to the contract employees. Otherwise, you are to pay minimum rates of wages as declared by the State Government where you are working. If the appropriate government is the central government, then you are to give minimum rates of wages as per the central government notification.

With Regards,

For contract labor, you have to pay rates as per the minimum wages prevailing in the respective states.

I would like to add to Shri Khola's comments that for the establishment, if the appropriate government is the central government, then you are to give minimum rates of wages as per the central government notification or the State Government's notification—whichever is more.
