Double Wages Worked In National & Festivel Holidays

subravijay
An employee gets a salary of Rs. 3,000 per month. He worked on Deepawali. The act says double wages. How much amount will he be paid for that particular day?

Hey Subra,

PM Salary: 3000/-
P Day Salary: 3000/26 days = 115 (rounded)
P Hour Salary: 115 x 8 hours/day = 920
So double salary for No hours worked on Diwali = (X hrs worked x 2) x (920) i.e P hour salary
Hope that is helpful.

Dear Sir,

If a festival holiday falls on a weekly off, how much will you pay him?

Same as above, since you are already paying his monthly salary... for 30 days, which includes the weekends, right? Don't get confused, okay.

If an employee works on a paid holiday, they need to be paid triple the regular rate, not double.

R A PATIL,

Provision of the grant of festival holidays is governed by either of these Acts, i.e., the State Shops Act or the State Industrial Establishment (National & Festival Holiday and Casual & Sick Leaves) Act. First, examine which of the Acts is applicable in your case, and then go through this provision to see under what conditions we need to grant holidays.
