Hi Citimates,

Kindly help me out. Our readymade garment organization has approximately 900 employees working in it. The problem is that the absenteeism rate is high in the company, and the attrition rate is also quite high. I need to fix this issue.

Please provide your suggestions to address this problem with minimal cost, or if possible, at no cost.

Hi Sweetie,

To cope with absenteeism, you must be proactive. First of all, discuss with the members and try to find out the reasons for the same. Then, discuss it with the management and raise it at a general meeting with all the members. Discuss the demerits of absenteeism and how it could affect one's career growth.

Next, observe the outcome to see if there has been any improvement. Moreover, make them feel that management is very concerned about their problems and try to provide them with a healthy work environment.

Taking harsh decisions as a first step may exacerbate the problems. Therefore, first try to address it through mutual consent and discussions.
