One of my employees had an accident at the workplace. He has been on leave since the past month. He is covered under ESI and PF. How to calculate salary, ESI, and PF for the period he is absent from work? Also, what is ESIC leave, and how can an employer intimate the ESI department about employment injury? The employee has taken treatment from an ESI hospital for only one day and continued his treatment at another private hospital. I would appreciate suggestions from experts. Thanks in advance.

Employers have to submit Form 12 (accident report) online immediately after the incident and complete the accident register of ESIC but no later than 72 hours. Once Form 12 is uploaded, a copy of the same is handed over to the IP (employee) or their relatives for onward submission to the ESIC dispensary. Thereafter, the employee has to follow the guidelines of ESIC. The role of the employer is only to attest the documents issued by ESIC in the usual course.
