Hello fellow HR members,
I have a few questions regarding the recruitment procedure, especially background verification (BGV). I posted this in another group but did not receive to-the-point answers. TIA. If any third-party agency can help, please inbox me the details or contact number.
1. Does your organization conduct education verification from the university or college, or just physical verification is done?
2. What are the pros and cons of conducting education verification from college/university, and is it advisable?
3. How much time does it take (duration) and how much would it cost per employee?
Any insight would be very helpful to standardize the BGV procedure at our organization. Thank you.

If the Interviewers/Interview Committee cannot make out whether an Applicant being interviewed is worthy or otherwise for the position interviewed, what other information obtained through a third-party source would do and for this important credential (commitment to the new employer + competence for the job being tested for) interviewers/committees invest so much in the selection process. To a large extent, for internal candidates/prospects for promotion to a higher position, organizations rely on available information. Shortlisting and the interview process are stages when management knows for sure if the applicant is most suitable or not. Plus, every new entrant has to declare/proclaim in writing that all information furnished is true and in the event it would be found out that any info furnished was not true, quick disciplinary action is effectively initiated.

Thank you for the insight, team Kritarth.
I was more interested in the existing processes followed by various sector organizations. I have to agree with your point of view, but at the same time, I feel it would be impossible to solely rely on the first impression of the candidate that we get in a 2-hour interview; hence the need for BGV.
Thank you.

Hi,
Our company has tied up with a third-party employment verification agency to conduct background checks on new joiners related to their education and previous employment experience.
I believe it's beneficial to authorize such agencies to proceed with verification because they receive written communication regarding the authenticity of the documents submitted by candidates. Although it can take up to 2-3 weeks for a university/college to respond, especially when a candidate does not submit their degree, as most government universities do not reply without proof of the degree. In this case, chasing the new entrant to submit the degree as soon as possible becomes a priority. Many times, our agent complains that the previous employment check is pending because the concerned HR is not responding. Overall, it is a good process because in the end, the representative submits a complete copy of the verification in a PDF file, mentioning the exact communication that took place between the two parties with dates and times mentioned.
The agency we partner with charges approximately Rs 1000-1500 per employee for verification services such as education, employment, physical address, database check, court procedures, and reference checks.
Thanks and Regards,

There are not always competent departments within HR, which may miss out on some verification points by bypassing formalities. Making requests for education without waiting for a response can lead to accepting the person at one's own risk. Perhaps, some companies conduct interviews directly for knowledge within the organization. I am aware that some HR departments use the website https://freebooksummary.com/the-crucible-literary-devices-22136 to verify new employees by checking for material related to literary devices in "The Crucible." Based on feedback, this approach helps to expedite the verification process and assess the applicant's knowledge level for the new position. I also believe that HR professionals, to some extent, act as psychologists who must ask specific questions to determine a person's truthfulness.

Today, companies are rather considering your practical skills and knowledge and not just a paper where it's written that you're good. So, I think the most important thing is to present yourself appropriately.
For example, you can prepare a concise and interesting speech, and a simple converter on https://educat.tools/words-to-minutes will help you make it short and coherent.

Several companies have different criteria for employment. Verification is important, whether it is done physically or by universities, but most organizations, such as nursing assignments by AcemyAssignment, do not have time to verify your qualifications from the institute. They typically only verify the hard copy of your degree in most cases.

Good day. In the current realities, companies are more likely to consider your practical skills and knowledge, and not just a resume and other pieces of paper that say you are good. In my opinion, the most important thing is to present yourself correctly. For example, you can use https://bit.ly/3lZQxrJ to improve your writing skills. The service will help you make it concise and coherent.
