Multi skilling in any organization enhances it's capability and flexibility to deal with multiple situations, especially contingencies. Multi skilling is a part of an organization's succession plan, wherein employees are made competent enough to take up roles(Old or New) other than their primary roles.

As per my understanding multi-skilling can be helpful for MANAGEMENT for two purposes:-
1. contingency plan (Horizontal multi-skilling)
2. succession plan (vertical multi-skilling)
* and somewhere it can enhance employee engagement
so anyone can help me to find more purposes for which management should drive multi-skilling projects.
