Very sorry to say that the recruitment industry is becoming worse with its culture and expectations. Companies or consultancies ask us to sell like call centres and close positions. With such a pressured environment, how can we find the right candidate? If you influence the candidate to join, he will surely leave in 3 months if not convinced. We have to allow candidates to decide rather than pressuring the closure.

I believe in going for a drive rather than appointing consultancies, as we may find genuine candidates who are willing to wait all day and attend interviews. Additionally, the company should ensure they provide a favorable environment for employees, rather than deceiving them by promising one amount in the offer letter and then giving less if the performance is not up to par.

Merits and Demerits of the Recruitment Industry

Every industry has its own merits and demerits, and similarly, every job has its own advantages and disadvantages. If you are working in the recruitment industry, you either have to accept it entirely or choose to reject it and move on.

The Role of Business Development in Business

No business can function without business development; hence, BD is also an integral part of any business, and presentations are required for BD activities.

Career Preferences of MBA Graduates

Every MBA graduate coming out of a business school typically aims for a strategic, corporate, business, or operations role. Rarely does anyone aspire to take up roles in industrial relations (IR), employee relations (ER), or counseling, as these roles involve extensive interactions and meetings with employees and workers. The majority prefer corporate office positions over factory roles, possibly influenced by the aspirations, examples, education, and training they receive.

These observations are based on my experiences while recruiting from various campuses.

With the passage of time, a new trend has emerged in line with evolving requirements. It is evident that all must adapt and follow the current trend.

The Role of Employment Exchanges

In order to enhance the recruitment or employment process, the government initiated the Employment Exchange. Unemployed individuals register themselves with the employment exchange, which then recommends suitable candidates based on industry requirements. The industry conducts interviews with the referred candidates and recruits them if found suitable. However, it is a stark reality that many industries do not adhere to this process and prefer to manage recruitment independently by advertising their requirements in newspapers and other media outlets.

The Rise of Recruitment Agencies

Currently, recruitment agencies have replaced employment exchanges to meet the manpower needs of industries by providing skilled individuals. Industries are now distancing themselves from the recruitment process, and the recruitment industry is aligning with the directives of the companies they serve in terms of manpower supply and interview arrangements. It is crucial to adapt to this trend as an employer, or else you may face challenges in fulfilling your recruitment needs.

Blaming the system holds no significance unless you comprehend it or adopt a more efficient system that you believe is optimal.
