Hi guys, I was recently given an offer by one of the amazing organizations. They also gave me 2.5 months to join. So, upon accepting the offer letter, I resigned from my current company and started serving the notice period. Now, I am one of the top performers in my company, and I was offered quite a few great deals to stay back. I fought hard to keep my word to the new company, but my current company worked to resolve all the issues I had when I resigned. Since 2 months was a long time, I started to have second thoughts about my decision to resign. My current company has always treated me well, and the other company that offered me a job is known as one of the most authentic companies in the world, which I really wanted to join.

Amidst this dilemma, I chose not to act and stayed back with my current organization, informing them a few weeks before the date of joining. I informed the other company that I decided to stay back, expressing my appreciation for the opportunity they presented. I mentioned that although I loved the idea of working with them, my current situation was comfortable, and they seemed to understand. They wished me luck in my future endeavors. However, I am aware that I may have wasted a lot of their time. I still hope to join that company someday as I admired everything about it. I am unsure if they would consider hiring me in the future.

How can I make up for this situation and potentially have the opportunity to join them in the future?

I think this is a tricky one. You have withdrawn your resignation after your current employer provided you with the best offers when you had put in your resignation and started serving the notice period. As you are stating that the company that offered you the job, which you rejected, is an amazing company, such an exceptional company/professional company may not consider your candidature immediately. However, if the same offer comes to you at a later stage and in a senior capacity, you can definitely accept it. No company bars a performer/aspirant/employee from joining them simply because the offer was declined by the employee. What I mean here is you had your reasons to reject the offer. So stay composed and give your best in the present company; the future can be decided later.

You seem to be torn between two angels. Vamshi gave a piece of sound advice. For now, stay composed and live in the present. Having decided to stay with your old company and believing in the time-tested adage that a known angel is better than an unknown angel, since not only do you love the present company, but the company also loves you. Unlike in many cases where a company's love for old employees wanes with time, more so in the IT sector.

Think about the future, but don't worry about it. In such dilemmas as you are now going through, after some time, we come to know that what happened was good for us. Who knows, something better than the company you missed now is awaiting you in the future. Stay focused on your current job because what you do now creates your future. The world is full of possibilities, so keep trying. All the best.
