What should be the policy for background verification in case of rehire?

We have a rehire joining us after 10 months; however, there was no employment in between. We already have the verification done for education, address, and previous employments during the first time joining. Should we get the criminal/court checks done again? If yes, why? If no, why not?

Verification has no legal sanction. If you wish to do verification its purely management call & no one can stop you from doing this.
