My query is regarding the Workmen Compensation Act facility available in case of accidental or disablement loss arising out of employment. As ESI coverage is limited to 21,000.00 INR as per a recent amendment, if employees are not covered due to this threshold, what should be the mode of compensation - WCA or can we go with any group insurance?

Looking for valuable input on this case...

Regards

If I remember correctly, the W.C. Insurance Policy is an unnamed insurance policy covering anyone engaged in specific jobs with an accident risk as mentioned in the policy document. Therefore, it is also a type of group insurance policy covering a particular number of employees engaged in specific groups of activities for which insurance is taken. Since the settlement of claims or disputes of claims is speedier and easier, in my opinion, the WC Insurance Policy is better where the provisions of the ESI Act are not applicable.
