Hi,
I have over 3 years of experience in the HR segment and 8 years of experience in other areas such as Pre & Post sales. Now, I would like to transition my career into Human Resources. I have a strong understanding of OD, recruitment processes, compensation benefits, training & development, employee relations, MIS, budgeting & reporting, succession planning, etc., suitable for a mid-level position in HR despite currently holding a managerial role in my current field. Can you please advise on how companies would evaluate my experience (relevant or total)?

Dear Gayathri,
You have experience in both HR and Sales. What is your current responsibility? If it is in HR, the chances would be good. However, if it was at the beginning of your career, it could be a tad difficult.
Designation is something that can vary from company to company, and seldom will you have the choice to get a desired designation unless it is for a top post or you are a sought-after candidate. If you are attempting to secure a full-time HR role, you must consider the expectations of a prospective employer. Another factor is that you would be competing with those who have been in HR all along. Obtaining qualifications in an HR course might also be beneficial.
You need to consider all the positive points that will strengthen your candidacy and act accordingly.

Dear Gayathri,
Your interest in working in the HR department is most welcome. For this, you must devote yourself to your work sincerely and work hard. There are many things to learn. Even if you are qualified in the HR field, it doesn't matter; slowly, through your work, you will gain the knowledge. However, upon reviewing your workload list, it appears that most tasks differ from the HR field. In my opinion, it is better to concentrate on one field rather than a combination. If the workload is not heavy, then there is no problem. You can try, and if any assistance is needed, do not hesitate to approach this forum where many experts are giving their opinions.
Wishing you all the best,
