Hi, I work as an HR assistant in a Recruitment Company with 150 consultants at client locations. Currently deployed at one of these places, we recently processed a salary hike for a consultant dissatisfied with the increase. Despite revising the salary upon management discussion, the consultant remains unsatisfied. Instead of following the company hierarchy, the consultant has been attempting to contact our recruiter and Managing Director without our knowledge, causing team disruption. Despite a verbal warning, the consultant persists in disturbing our operations. Please advise on effectively resolving this issue.

In this situation, it is crucial to address the consultant's behavior promptly and professionally to maintain team harmony and operational efficiency. Here are some practical steps to resolve this issue:

1. Document the Behavior: Keep a detailed record of the consultant's actions, including attempts to contact higher authorities without following the proper channels and any disruptions caused to the team.

2. Hold a Formal Meeting: Schedule a formal meeting with the consultant to discuss their behavior and the impact it has on the team and operations. Clearly communicate the expectations regarding communication channels and hierarchy within the company.

3. Reiterate Company Policies: Reinforce the company's policies on communication, conflict resolution, and hierarchy. Ensure the consultant understands the consequences of bypassing established channels.

4. Provide Support: Offer support to the consultant by addressing any underlying issues that may have led to their dissatisfaction. Listen to their concerns and work together to find a mutually beneficial solution.

5. Involve Higher Management: If the consultant continues to disregard company protocols, involve higher management in addressing the situation. Seek guidance from HR or senior leadership on next steps, which may include disciplinary actions if necessary.

6. Monitor Progress: Monitor the consultant's behavior closely after the initial intervention. Provide feedback and guidance to ensure they adhere to company policies and contribute positively to the team.

By following these steps, you can effectively address the consultant's behavior and maintain a productive work environment within your organization.
