In my company, we process our salary in the first week of the month, mostly by the 5th of every month. However, for the last 2-3 months, it has been delayed to the 10th due to various circumstances. For instance, my boss has not been in the office during these days, sometimes due to out-of-town trips or illness. Consequently, the salary processing date has been postponed to the second week. Everyone is aware of these situations, and they understand that we cannot process salaries without his approval.

Despite this knowledge, all employees exhibit childish behavior by constantly asking me about the progress, the specific payment date, and urging me to talk to the boss or send him emails. While I acknowledge their concern about timely salary payments, I am unable to take any action or expedite the process. Even senior employees continue to pose the same inquiries, which has become quite frustrating for me.

I comprehend the significance of money as a motivating factor in our work lives, yet I lack the authority to influence the salary process. I seek your suggestions on how to address this challenging situation.

Dear Supriya,

As per the Payment of Wages Act, the salary is to be disbursed within 7 days of the succeeding month if the employee strength is below 1000. Therefore, if you pay after the due date, it would be considered a statutory violation. Hence, kindly convey this information to your boss.
