I just turned 18 years old. I was born on August 22, 1996. My birth certificate states my birthdate as August 22, 1996, but all my other documents (high school mark sheet, AADHAR CARD, and all) indicate my birthdate as August 22, 1997. Can I obtain a PAN card with the current date of August 22, 1996, without changing my birthdate on the mark sheet? If yes, please provide me with some details as I can pass them on to my uncle, who is an advocate.

Thanks,
Hardeep Asrani

Dear Hardeep,

You can apply for a PAN card by submitting your birth certificate with the date of 22nd Aug. 1996 as your birth date. For address/ID proof, please enclose your bank passbook or bank account statement.

Additionally, I recommend correcting your Aadhar card and other documents to prevent complications in the future.

Hi, Kindly answer the following first.

a) Do you know the real meaning and purpose of a PAN CARD?

b) Why do you need a PAN card? Is it not mandatory for you as you are just 18 years old and have no official income?
