Dear Senior,

I have been working as a Product and Behavioral Trainer for NMC for the past 3 years. My job profile involves training users on existing products and Behavioral Topics within the West Region, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa.

Recently, there has been a restructuring in the training department, and I have been promoted to a new role. I am now tasked with creating and training trainers on new modules for Behavioral Training at a Pan India level. This new role also involves coordinating with supervisors, establishing partnerships with training institutes/colleges across India, and conducting testing for new products/enhancements.

While I am excited about this new job role, I am not entirely satisfied with the designation label of "Training Coordinator." I am seeking your guidance and assistance on this matter.

With kind regards,
Shabnam

Hi Shabnam,

I understand that the designation does not truly reflect your work profile. I believe you can talk to the decision-maker in your company and share your thoughts with the reason. Do mention that you would be happy if the designation is renamed. Designations are created internally, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Tania

Hi,

You can ask for the designation of Training Manager - as that is what you are doing, managing, not coordinating. Alternatively, you can use Talent Development Manager, Talent Advisor and Developer, etc. You can Google to find out a few other upcoming professional names. Choose any that best describes your work. All the best!

How about something like Manager - Training and External Coordination

Dear Shabnam,

The designation is merely a show-off to the external world. Be excited about your new profile and do justice to the profile you have got. The more you learn and groom yourself, the more prepared you would be to face new challenges in your domain. For growth in your career, ideally, your evaluator would try to judge you more on your capabilities and achievements; therefore, the designation would be immaterial.

On a separate note, you should try the virtual classroom platform for product trainings, since the training could be delivered much faster and at a much lower cost. You need to bring innovations to your space of operations. The quality of training could also be kept intact rather than opting for training the trainers, which is mostly a suboptimal solution.

Let me know if you would like to explore further on this.
