Dear all, I Want to know about floating leaves in a Company and how much can be maximum for one employee in one year. Pls advise as soon as possible. Thanks & Regards, Raj

Hi
there is nothing I have heard as floating leaves (or sinking leave :lol: )
There are only three types of leaves CL: Casual Leave (informed and taken), Sick Leave (taken with or without prior information) and Previlege Leave (yearly once for vacation etc) besides this we have special category of leave like maternity leaves, paternity leaves etc.

Hi Raj,

there is definitely a concept of Floating Leaves.

I know this for sure because we have one in our company as well

well, i shall explain that to you in detail

We have 10 fixed official holidays in a calendar year. These fixed holidays include days like Gandhi Jayanti, Independence Day, Repuplic Day, Diwali, etc. All companies mostly are not allowed to give more than 10 fixed holidays per year. However, this list of fixed holidays sometimes covers religious fests/days like, Onam, Pongal, Janmashtmi, Rakhi etc. As these days are particularly of significance to only a particular set of people belonging to particular religions, all employees may not want to take leave on those days. Moreso, they feel its a waste n that they could easily take an off for another day instead.

thus, comes in the concept of Floating Leave/Holiday

Now, in this case we reduce the fixed holidays and make them 9 days from 10 days.

We then prepare another list of 8-9 religious days/festivals as optional leaves. Now apart from the 9 fixed holidays an employee is free to select one holiday (as per his religious imporatnce) from the list of Floating Leaves. then the 9 fixed days + 1 day of his floating leave would finally leave him with a total of 10 holidays per year.

However, the floating holidays are not related to any other kind of leave.

they are purely different from privilege leave, study leave, celebration leave etc.
